Isn't that against their doctrine? Because long ago, women couldn't be in places of power, except Deborah, she was a judge. But there was never a time when a women would be close to winning an election and people were agreeing.
Because Benzair Bhutto was also a leader of a major party, but in the Islmic countries, they really don't like that, so as we all know, they assasinated her some months ago. So why is it tolerated in Jewish countries?|||Hmmmmm, Good question!|||When Israel was declared, it was intended to be a democratic country with liberal democratic values along with Jewish identity.
Some laws in the Israeli constitution suggest Jewish tradition such as the Jewish Holidays (Yom-Kippur) for example.
You were right that there is a conflict between religion and democratic freedom. However when it happens, the freedom is usually preferred. Israel had a female prime minister (Golda Meir) at the 70's and has many women involve in politics. There is no limitation for that.
It is important to mention that Israel do not force Judaism upon its citizens as other Muslim countries do. There is a freedom of religion and the Jewish ideas are involved very little in the laws.|||Dear Friend,
Israel is not following God the way they should be, obviously. In fact, God will send a nation to fight with Israel, and then God will punish and destroy their army.
I'm glad you mentioned Deborah, however. If you recall, there were no men at that time with "any" backbone. God used Deborah to carry out His plan. Notice, Deborah was going to lead the army to war, because no man would do it. Therefore, Deborah got the recognition.
Is God using another woman to do what a man is supposed to do because there are none with any backbone? I don't know. I guess we'll have to find out. (grin)|||my guess is that it really doesn't matter who the Jews pick as their political leader. religion and politics should be separate anyway. God is not really concerned with political leaders as He is with religious leaders. He is not a part of this world and neither should we. a lot of cultures have gotten away from following the word the way their supposed to. so having political leaders who are not followers of the faith seems to be the norm for them. in other words, most people choose a leader based on what that particular leader can do for them and what causes they support. such as special interest groups. it's a shame how world govt's have become so corrupt. if they would put God first, there wouldn't be so many homeless, hungry, out-of-work, suffering people in the world.|||Israel is a liberal democracy not a Jewish theocracy. Benazir Bhutto was supported by the majority of Pakistanis who--FYI-- are Muslims. "muslims don't like that", NO it's radical conservative terrorists who don't like that. sounds familiar? which one are you?|||dunno
